Generally by the time September has come to a close, so have the rains that come with the summer storms. Fall brings cold fronts and layers of cloud, but rarely do we see many thunderstorms in October. I looked back in my albums and have only one other set of lightning shots, from a storm in October of 07.
This one had promise, and by the time I sat the first flashes in the window and got out my camera, it had all but stopped.
Over a 7 minute period I managed to snag a total of three shots, the first of which is the only "keeper" of the bunch.
Because of the time exposure, what appears to be one flash is actually two, an air-to-air strike and the second strike that followed, air-to-ground.
One good one makes it worth the effort.
